I’d been taking riding lessons at Hidden Acres in Woodbridge, Connecticut, for about a year when I decided to start riding twice a week, and that’s how I met Sarinah. My boys have also had a few lessons with Abby, so I was especially excited to photograph the twins for their senior portraits at Whispering Willow Equestrian Center in Durham. We planned a relaxed equestrian senior session that incorporated their horses, portraits of the girls together, and a few with their parents.
The forecast looked perfect until about an hour before their session, when drizzle showed up uninvited. It rained on and off throughout the shoot, but the soft light and lush Connecticut landscape worked beautifully in our favor. Somehow, I still ended up with some of my favorite images I’ve ever created. Senior portraits should feel personal, and I love designing sessions around the people, places, animals, and interests that tell your story.
If you’ve been thinking about a session of your own, book it. You’ll thank yourself (and maybe me!) in ten years.
